Optimisation of protein levels in Australian hybrid abalone nutrition

Inamul Hassan is a PhD Candidate in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at Deakin University.

Hassan’s PhD is investigating the dietary protein requirements of Australian farmed hybrid abalone with respect to size class and environmental rearing temperature (season).

He further evaluates preference and digestibility of different dietary protein sources for hybrid abalone using rapid in vitro digestibility techniques. The outcomes of his study will significantly contribute towards the development of size and season specific feed solutions for hybrid abalone using locally available and cost effective alternative protein sources.

His project is a part of overarching project “Elucidating the nutritional requirements of farmed hybrid abalone”.
