Seasonal environmental impacts on the productivity
and nutrition status of farmed Atlantic salmon
Matthew’s PhD is a collaborative project working with Tasmania’s Atlantic salmon industry to identify key areas of change in the production performance of Atlantic salmon, particularly with reference to seasonal environmental conditions.

A key objective of the project is to characterise the environment at each Atlantic salmon farming region in Tasmania through rigorous environmental monitoring.

In addition, commercially produced Atlantic salmon are to be sampled throughout their grow-out period, and analysed to determine changes in productivity, nutritional composition, feed utilisation efficiency, and product quality. This project aims to facilitate nutritional intervention to combat seasonal environmental changes, as well life-stage and site-specific requirements.
