The R&D work of NuSea.Lab is backed up by state-of-the-art aquaculture facilities (Deakin Aquaculture Futures), a mobile laboratory composed by a fully equipped van inclusive of a large freezer for field work, two fully equipped laboratories for nutritional profiling (including HPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS, TLC-FID), chemical and biochemical analyses, and a dedicated feed production room with pelleting capabilities, a small-scale aquafeed extruder and a drying room.
Deakin Aquaculture Futures – Marine, Freshwater and Aquaculture Research Facility is a state-of-the-art aquatic research facility located at Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus. The facility is equipped with a range of experimental systems, permitting small scale experimental work with sensitive life stages, all the way up to unrivalled commercial-scale aquaculture research for the provision of cutting-edge research to meet the needs of the Australian aquaculture sector.
Deakin Aquaculture Futures provides NuSea.Lab researchers with a reliable supply of high quality, filtered water and the capability to control a range of environmental parameters, including temperature, salinity and light intensity. All experimental systems receive round-the-clock monitoring to guarantee the successful completion of research activities and ensure the ethical welfare of all organisms.
